2020 was probably the most difficult year for many people around the world. Since the COVID-19 outbreak, global demand for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) has surged rapidly. In March 2020, World Health Organization (WHO) called on industry and governments to increase manufacturing of PPE by 40 percent.
Exporting and importing PPE have increased dramatically in responding to global demand, so did the insurance need for these movements. Insurance underwriters have been on high alert with flooded insurance requests. In the past few months, World Insurance had coordinated cargo insurance for more than 60 PPE shipments valued at nearly USD10 million for the WCA members and their clients worldwide.
