Carrier Schedule Reliability Returns as Backlogs Recede

Sea-Intelligence, a market research and data analytics firm, reported that during the month of October, schedule reliability among the major carriers has seen its strongest improvement since 2020. This has also been seen in the reduction of vessel backlog in the busiest container ports.

Alan Murphy, CEO of Sea-Intelligence, said, “Global schedule reliability improved by 6.6 percentage points month-to-month in October 2022 and reached 52.0 percent.”

Overall, schedule reliability is up seven out of the last ten months. Murphy noted, “Average delay is now consistently below the 6-day mark” and it is “closer to the 2020 level than the 2021 one.”
